Position:  FACJ2019-01  Propulsion Engineer

Frontier Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Propulsion Engineer or Senior Design Engineer to support the design and development of rocket engine propulsion components and assemblies to meet functional and programmatic requirements. Candidates must possess the right technical skills and have effective planning, organization, and decision making skills enabling them to execute activities across one or more simultaneous projects. The ability to communicate effectively with all key stakeholders, including colleagues, customers, managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and partner organizations is also required.

Full-Time Position

Compensation: $80,000 to $105,000 Annually

General Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • B.S. or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, or similar engineering discipline

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Significant Creo Parametric modeling and drawing experience

Desired:

  • Security clearance

  • \Experience with using PTC Windchill for CAD data management

Specific duties include:

  • Researching and analyzing design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, maintenance requirements and risk of designs or applications

  • Applying basic principles and analysis of rocket propulsion to produce rocket engine designs that meet performance requirements

  • Creating conceptual layouts of propulsion systems and other systems within flight vehicles for proposals and preliminary designs

  • Using general purpose and specialized analysis tools to refine and optimize rocket engine designs to meet performance requirements

  • Accurately reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports

  • Modeling 3D parts and 3D assemblies using Creo Parametric to meet ASME Y14.41 standards

  • Creating drawings using Creo Parametric to meet ASME Y14.5 standards

  • Understanding and applying 3D parametric modeling best-practices in adherence with company standards

  • Developing reasonable design proposals and effectively responding to customer requests

  • Working effectively with suppliers to plan and purchase components, monitor part fabrication, and validate part quality

  • Effectively documenting work for design reviews, peer reviews, and for use as design templates

  • Collaborating on writing, submitting, and presenting technical white papers at industry conferences with strict adherence to guidelines protecting company intellectual property and national security interests

  • Planing and driving execution of projects to meet schedule and budget constraints

  • Identifying risks and developing risk mitigation strategies and programs that lead to the successful execution of projects

  • Effectively communicating with stakeholders, including customers, to provide regular project status updates, technical coordination, expectation setting, and requirements management
